Rebel Wilson Part Of The 2019 Cats Adaptation

Rebel Wilson has been recently added to the star-studded cast of the upcoming movie adaptation of Cats. Reports note that she is set to star as the Jennyanydots, who is an old Gumbie cat that has a nocturnal penchant for cooking, teaching mice, and dancing.

The Jennyanydots character is described as being lazy, which is a requirement for being a Gumbie cat, being a good cook, enjoying teaching home-ec skills to mice (knitting, crocheting and tatting), and having cockroach helpers. In the Cats lore, the character is known to spend her time seeking out warm and sunny spots to sit and sleep, and operating during the nighttime. Tom Hopper will sit in the director chair for the adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical, the movie being set to be shown in theatres on the 20th of December, in 2019. The movie tells the story of a tribe of felines that are called Jellicles, and the night when they make the “Jellicle choice”, which is when they decide which cat will ascend to the Heaviside Layer and then come back to a new life. The production of the motion picture is set to take place in the United Kingdom, and part of the cast is still yet to be announced. The screenplay was co-written by Tom Hopper and Lee Hall, and is an adaptation of Webber’s music, which itself is based on the novel Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Eliot.

The musical is the forth-longest running show in the history of Broadway – and at one point it was the longest-running Broadway show ever from 1997 to 2006. The musical features some of the best known songs from the stage. Follow Rebel Wilson on Twitter
